As part of the transformation of the World Economic Forum’s Villa Mundi in Cologny - Switzerland, silkke was commissioned to create an immersive virtual version of the future reception pavilion.
The site, located near the World Economic Forum headquarters, was designed to host heads of state and high-level personalities visiting Geneva for conferences and strategic meetings.
Originally built in 1958 by architect Georges Brera as Villa Maier, at the request of a former Austrian ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva, the villa was later acquired and transformed by the World Economic Forum.
As stated by Klaus Schwab, founder and chairman of the institution, the Villa Mundi is intended to reinforce the role of the World Economic Forum as a “global center” bringing together the different actors of society.
Working with architect Milena Cvijanovich, silkke used BIM plans integrating furniture, layouts and accessories to reconstruct the project as a navigable digital environment.
The immersive application was presented before the rehabilitation phase, enabling all project stakeholders — and even future visitors — to discover and walk through the building remotely, 24/7.
silkke also integrated the full environmental context into the immersive application, including the lake, surrounding mountains, real-time lighting conditions and time of day, allowing stakeholders to visualize sun exposure and how natural light enters the interior spaces.
This project perfectly illustrates the Virtual Real Estate approach developed by silkke: turning architectural plans and BIM data into high-fidelity immersive spaces that can be explored before physical delivery.
Before a diplomatic venue becomes a mini-Davos for world leaders, silkke made it explorable as an immersive destination first.
Villa Mundi will be inaugurated in August 2023 as a protected site dedicated to international dialogue.
